Congratulations to the following students who have each been selected to receive a $1000 scholarship from the Fredericksburg Area Chapter of the Virginia Tech Alumni Association. These students will be attending Virginia Tech in the fall. They were selected from the 48 valid applications that we received.

Virginia Tech has initiated a program, VT-Engage, which challenges alumni worldwide to perform 300,000 hours of community service beginning October 16, 2007 and ending May 8, 2008, The University is asking all alumni to donate 10 hours of community service. Events

Virginia Techforlife Blood Drive
Thank you to everyone that played a part in the very successful Virginia Techforlife Blood Drive on April 16. 69 people came and donated 61 pints of blood, and there were at least 10 volunteers that helped to organize and work during the event. Our contact at the American Red Cross called it a "fabulous day!" If you participated, don't forget to log your volunteer hours on the VT-ENGAGE web site.

May 17 - Virginia Tech Day at King's Dominion
Join us for a fun filled day at King's Dominion! Package includes All Day Admission and an All-You-Can-Eat Private picnic! Also, $2.00 from each ticket will be donated to the Virginia Tech Scholarship fund. May 22 - VTAA/Hokie Club Golf Tournament
The event is jointly hosted by the Hokie Club and the Alumni Association at the Fredericksburg Country Club. Proceeds are split between each group and the VTAA portion helps to fund our scholarship program. We are looking for golfers and sponsors for this event. For information, please click here.

June 2 at 7:00 PM - Chapter Board Meeting
All are welcome to attend. We will be looking for new officers to take roles in July, 2008. The board of directors meets every even month on the first Monday of the month at the office of The Title Professionals (1010 Charles Street). Please try to find time in your schedule to help us do good work within our community and showcase the spirit of the Hokie Nation.

August 3 at 4:00 PM - Welcome Freshmen CrabFeast
This event will be held at the Elks Club on Tidewater Trail. It is always well attended and a great time. More information is forthcoming, but we encourage you to save the date.
