Fredericksburg Area Chapter
For many years, the Fredericksburg Area Chapter of the Virginia Tech Alumni Association (VTAA) has provided support to the Historic Fredericksburg Foundation, Inc. (HFFI) Candlelight Tour. This activity was organized and led by Jim Brown, Virginia Tech class of 1960 and long-time active member of the VTAA. Jim passed away this past August.
Some of you have volunteered to help with the Tour in the past and know about the support the Chapter has provided. We have traditionally volunteered to assist with traffic control in the Tour area by moving traffic barricades to allow approved vehicles to pass and helping people to safely cross the streets.
The Chapter would like to continue to support the Candlelight Tour, but we need someone to step forward to lead this effort. The activity leader with work with the HFFI to determine what is needed, and then organize the Hokie volunteers for the event.
Specific information about the Tour, which will be held on Dec 9-10, can be found at http://hffi.org/holiday-candlelight-tour/. The tour area is fairly small this year, which means fewer Hokie volunteers will be needed. Our Social Media Coordinator will work with you to find the Hokie volunteers.
If you'd like to volunteer, or need additional information about what you'd be doing, please contact John Palmer (Chapter President, firstname.lastname@example.org), or Frank Eak (Social Media Coordinator, email@example.com).
We are happy to announce that you can now make a tax-free contribution to the Fredericksburg Area Chapter Scholarship Fund through the Virginia Tech Foundation. Your contribution will help us to continue to give scholarships to area high school seniors who will be continuing their education at Virginia Tech.
